Taylor Swift made her first public remarks about Selena Gomez’s wedding to Benny Blanco during her appearance on SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up.
She said watching her longtime friend get married was “the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.”
Swift also spoke about the moment she fell in love with her own fiancé, Travis Kelce.
Taylor Swift gave a speech at her longtime friend Selena Gomez’s wedding on September 27—and now, she’s sharing a little more detail about what it was like watching Gomez marry the love of her life.
Swift appeared on SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up, where host Nicole Ryan asked her about the 2023 Fourth of July post she shared of her and Gomez hanging out. Swift had playfully called out their single relationship statuses, and shortly after, both women met their future husbands. Gomez began secretly dating Benny Blanco, and Swift started seeing her now-fiancé, Travis Kelce.
“How deranged, how deranged is that post?” Swift began. “I think back on that, [and] I’m like, there’s no way ’cause if we break it down, I’m in this picture with a bunch of girls—a lot, not just me and Selena. A few of the other girls found their person right after that. And the fact that it was right before the Kansas City [Eras Tour] show, where I’d been like ‘a Happy Independence Day from your local, single girlies’…and then the next day go and play in Kansas City, not knowing that Travis [Kelce] was gonna come to the show. I just, yeah, it’s unreal.
“I look back…[and] it’s his [Kelce’s] birthday today, too. So, I’m just thinking about how grateful I am that he exists. And also how happy I am for my friends when they find happiness.”
She added of Gomez specifically, “Selena was the most beautiful—not just the most beautiful bride…[but] the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. Just so happy, and she deserves it so much. And you only wish that for people, you know?”
Shortly after Swift’s interview, Gomez shared photos of them together at the wedding:
Swift also discussed the moment she fell for Kelce during the conversation, saying, “It’s so hard to just pinpoint that, especially ’cause we’re on the radio, and I’m getting shy all of a sudden. But you know, it’s all turned out great. He’s one of those people where as soon as you meet him, you know he’s the best. And you know there’s no one else on the planet that’s ever been even remotely similar to him. He’s one of one. I hope you get to hang with him sometime ’cause you’ll absolutely love him.”
