Taylor Swift dismissed theories that she’ll stop making music after marrying Travis Kelce during a BBC Radio 2 interview.
“That’s a shockingly offensive thing to say,” she began. “It’s not why people get married, so that they can quit their jobs.”
The singer also spoke about how much Kelce’s support of her career means to her.
On the track “Wi$h Li$t,” from The Life of a Showgirl, Taylor Swift sings about her dream of starting a family with fiancé Travis Kelce while maintaining a private late. But make no mistake, the singer told Scott Mills on BBC Radio 2 that she is not done making music.
“What? No, [this is not my last album],” she began.
Addressing the theories that she’ll stop making music after marrying Travis Kelce and starting a family, Swift added, “That’s a shockingly offensive thing to say. It’s not why people get married, so that they can quit their jobs.”
Mills noted that fans had been panicking. Swift replied, “Oh, I know, they love to panic sometimes. But I love the person that I am with because he loves what I do, and he loves how much I am fulfilled by making art and making music. That’s the coolest thing about Trav: He is so passionate about what he does that me being passionate about what I do, it connects us. There’s no point in time where he’s going to be like, ‘I’m really upset that you’re still making music, the music thing that I signed up for, that I knew you loved, I thought you were going to stop doing that.’”
The singer highlighted how much his support means to her. “It just is the most fun thing in the world to be able to support each other and the polarity of how different our jobs are,” she said. “But there’s a lot of similarities, too. We both as a living, as a job, as a passion, perform for three-and-a-half hours in NFL stadiums. We both do three-and-a-half hour shows to entertain people…in NFL stadiums. When I’m in those stadiums, it’s a dressing room. But when he’s in those exact same stadiums, it’s a locker room. For him, it’s practice. For me, it’s rehearsal. For him, it’s a game; for me, it’s a show. We just call them different things. We both have teams. It’s a very similar thing, and we’re both competitive in fun ways—not in ways that eat away at us, but we just love it.”
The singer also offered an update on her wedding plans, saying it is not her first priority yet. “I’m doing one thing at a time,” she said. “Right now, I’m doing this. I don’t know [if I’m hiring a wedding planner]. Right now, I’m just stoked about the idea that I get to marry this person. So I’m going to think about that, and then I’m going to put out this album, and then I’m going to think about other things after that.”
