If you’ve ever dreamt of coming face to face with Colonel Mustard and Professor Plum, here’s your chance. Netflix just announced that it’s partnered with Hasbro to launch a reality series based on Clue. They’re bringing the iconic board game to life with a competitive reality twist, and honestly, we think this sounds like a stroke of genius.
Clue is a new reality competition series coming to Netflix
Netflix described the upcoming Clue series as a “real-life game of deduction and deception,” where players will face both “physical and mental challenges.” We’re just hoping it’s as campy as the 1985 movie!
“To win, they’ll have to outwit opponents and answer three big questions: who, where, and with what. If the contestants guess correctly, they’ll add money to the prize pot, but if their suspicions are wrong, they could face elimination,” the announcement read.
Netflix also teased that the players will “cross paths” with some familiar suspects from the board game. Expect “suspense, surprises, and plenty of red herrings.”
The Clue reality show seems to be following in the same creative footsteps as their previously announced Willy Wonka competition series. Netflix wants to cash in on your childhood nostalgia. Jeff Gaspin, V.P. of Unscripted Series at Netflix, explained the move in a statement, and we’re over here anxiously anticipating a Candyland reality show.
“Like so many families and friends over the years, we’ve gathered around the table trying to figure out who did it — making CLUE a source of nostalgia that everyone shares,” Jeff said. “Thanks to the incredible vision of our partners at Hasbro, IPC, and B17, we’re delivering a fresh, imaginative whodunit competition that will invite today’s audiences into that iconic world.”
There’s no word on casting or a launch date for Clue, so keep your eyes peeled for updates. In the meantime, Netflix has plenty of other new reality shows to hold you over.
