Dolly Parton’s sister, Freida, has taken to Facebook to request prayers for the country music legend as she grapples with ongoing health issues.
The 79-year-old singer-songwriter recently postponed six shows from December 4 to December 13 at the Colosseum Theater at Caesars Palace as part of her Dolly: Live in Las Vegas residency, citing “health challenges” in a statement shared on social media.
“Don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet,” the Jolene singer penned, revealing that she needs to undergo “a few procedures.”
The post was met with an outpouring of support from fans for the beloved country music icon.
Now, her sister is using social media to rally prayers for the Tennessee native. “Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly,” Freida posted on Tuesday.
Hours later, Freida followed up with yet another Facebook post, which read, “She’s been a little under the weather, and I simply asked for prayers because I believe so strongly in the power of prayer. It was nothing more than a little sister asking for prayers for her big sister. Thank you all for lifting her up. Your love truly makes a difference.”
On September 28, Dolly revealed that she would be delaying her Las Vegas residency until September 2026. “I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts,” she wrote. “As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures.
“The legendary songwriter, whose career spans over six decades, reassured fans that the announcement didn’t mean she was retiring from music forever. “But,” Dolly wrote, “I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you. I love you and thank you for understanding.
In the statement, she joked that it was time for her “100,000-mile check-up,” and that she wasn’t going to the doctor for her “usual trip to see my plastic surgeon.” She also recently called off an appearance at the 16th Governors Awards on November 16.
