Judge Michael Bublé was the first to turn his chair for the crooner, followed by judges Niall Horan and Snoop Dogg. The fourth judge, Reba McEntire, said she didn’t turn around because her team is full.
A Cincinnati musician caught the attention of several celebrity judges on NBC’s “The Voice” on Tuesday, Oct. 7.
“I got one spot left and I was like, ‘let this last space be for the king, for the star,’” Bublé said. “Then … I hear a dude take a Jackie Wilson song, and you crushed it.”
Snoop Dogg and Horan, on the other hand, emphasized the unconventional way Gomez sang the tune.
“We don’t hear a lot of that yodel-y wail that you were doing,” Horan said. “It was sung completely differently, in your way, and I get the feeling you can honestly sing anything and you’d make it sound so good.”
Despite receiving praise from all four judges, Gomez ultimately chose Bublé as his coach, becoming the final performer on the jazz singer’s team.
Gomez performed at the Red Leprechaun Irish Pub at The Banks on Oct. 7 before watching his debut on “The Voice,” according to the bar’s Instagram stories.
