She shared, “Here’s a fact, I’ve looked miserable for all these years because when we stand on the red carpet, this guy has always [stood] on the left.
“I didn’t realize that when I smile – which I do! – I smile from the left, because if I smile from the right, I look unwell. So I’m smiling on the inside but no one ever sees it – so that’s why I look so moody.”
In addition to blaming David’s positioning, Victoria also admitted that her reluctance to smile might have been due to a lack of confidence at times. She confessed that after the Spice Girls disbanded in 2000, she often felt like she didn’t want to smile.
Victoria Beckham candidly admitted that her solo career’s lack of success and the constant scrutiny took a toll on her. “I’d be lying if I said I was the best singer or dancer,” she confessed.
“But when people are mean and you’re hearing things and you’re seeing things and you’re constantly made to feel you’re not good enough, that really hurts. I became so self conscious.”

She further revealed, “The minute I see a camera, I change. The barrier goes up, my armor goes on and that’s when the miserable cow who doesn’t smile comes out.
“I’m so conscious of that and I don’t like that, I’d rather not be that person. I’d love to have the confidence to walk out of a restaurant and smile but I just can’t do it.'”
Her husband David also noticed her transformation, observing her once vibrant and bubbly personality slowly fading away.
In another part of the series, Victoria confessed that she became “good at lying” as she discussed how she managed to conceal an eating disorder. The mother-of-four explained that she stopped eating because she felt unable to control what others were saying about her during the peak of her fame, but “I can control my weight”.
She shared how she tried to manipulate the narrative about what was being reported about her: “I could control it with the clothing, I could control it with my weight and I was controlling it in an extremely unhealthy way.
“When you have an eating disorder you become very good at lying and I was never honest about it with my parents.”
