Percy Jackson Season 2 is expected to premiere on Disney+ starting December 10th. The somewhat popular novel adaptation has had the most critical acclaim of any Percy Jackson series thus far. One of the primary reasons for this is the direct influence of the franchise’s author, Rick Riordan. So far, Rick has overseen almost every aspect of the show and even had the final say regarding the main cast for the series.
The first season famously covered the first book in the series, with the occasional scene change here and there. For the most part, the first season of the show is touted as a faithful retelling and was a major hit among most fans. All in all, many fans were pleasantly surprised with the first season’s dedication to the books and the emotional performances of its young actors.
Like the first season, season 2 is set to follow the second book in the franchise, Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters. If it follows the precedent of the first season, it will be an almost completely dedicated retelling of the novel. The most recent trailer already included a first look at one of the most important characters in the book, Tyson.
Tyson is Percy’s half-brother and is also a cyclops. His relatively normal appearance in the trailer, along with what is likely a kraken, demonstrates the extended budget of this new season. If season 2 finds the same footing as its predecessor, it’s more than likely that this could be one of the most popular shows based on a series of novels. Either way, Percy Jackson is unlikely to be dethroned until the new Harry Potter series has its premiere.
Ultimately, December 10th will likely be a very good day for Percy Jackson fans. With the new series setting an even larger precedent for the show, there’s no telling what could come next. Needless to say, fans of the franchise can only sit back and hope Disney continues to do the series justice. If the first season is any solid indication, the series will only grow in popularity from here.
