Gracie Abrams revealed she’s “scared” to talk about the bridge of her hit “That’s So True.”
For “Story of My Song” content with American Express, the singer-songwriter opened up about the meaning of the track, which was featured on the deluxe version of her 2024 album The Secret of Us.
While discussing the making of the song — including how she crafted the lyrics — Abrams, 26, was seemingly hesitant when she got to discussing the bridge.

“I feel…scared to talk about the bridge,” she laughed. “We’ll get there.”
“Made it out alive, but I think I lost it / Said that I was fine, said it from my coffin / Remember how I died when you started walking? / That’s my life, that’s my life / I’ll put up a fight, taking out my earrings / Don’t you know the vibe? Don’t you know the feeling? / And she’ll spend the night, catch me on your ceiling / That’s your price, that’s your price,” Abrams sings on the bridge of the song, which went viral on social media.

The “Risk” performer then said she would “dissect” it but had a caveat.
“I would never say the names of the people that the song’s about, for example, but I think, you know, I actually … I don’t have any problem standing here being like, yes I wrote this about a relationship that I was involved in,” said Abrams.
The Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter then noted that everyone she’s ever been involved with knows she writes songs.
“There’s just a way to make someone aware when you’ve done it if it’s gonna see the light of day, for example. Enough consideration to be respectful of XYZ person in their personal life and experiences,” said Abrams.
She then said the person who it’s about is “fine.”
“They’re all good,” Abrams added.
In a NYLON cover story in December 2024, she spoke about the success of “That’s So True.”
“It’s funny to see what one song can do for engagement. In your head, you’re like, ‘Of course.’ But it’s crazy when you get to see that week-by-week in a stadium,” said Abrams.

She added: “It was really wild. It felt different, for sure. There is something really psychotic about being able to hear voices in the stadium singing s— back at you. It’s like, ‘What the f—?’”
“That’s So True” is Abrams’ biggest hit to date, peaking at No. 1 on Billboard’s U.S. Adult Pop Airplay and Pop Airplay charts.
