If Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill had you tickled and gasping for breath in 22 Jump Street, chances are you’ve been eagerly waiting for 23 Jump Street.
With whispers about the sequel, and no concrete news in sight, Tatum has now revealed who’s to be blamed for the project’s stalled development. Jenko didn’t mince words, pointing fingers squarely at one name: Neal M. Moritz. Read on to find out what the exact tee is.
In an interview with Variety, Tatum discussed the budgeting issues hampering the film’s production. He said, “The problem is the overhead. It would cost as much as the actual budget of the film, if not more, because of all the producers involved. It’s just too top-heavy. It falls over every time.”
The actor added that while he, Jonah, and directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller agreed to take smaller fees, Moritz’s producer fee is making the film financially impossible to execute. “Neal’s price for a producer fee is huge. And to be honest, that’s what’s killing it.”
Despite Tatum calling the scripts for the sequel “sincerely the best script I’ve ever read for me and Jonah [Hill],” with the ongoing financial problems, there seems to be no hope in sight for the film.
