Theresa Nist admits to having different hopes for romance with Gerry Turner after she discovered that the debut Golden Bachelor felt “trapped” before they got married as he’s being “made out to be a villain” following his recent split.
“It makes me very sad to think that he felt empty and trapped,” Theresa, 72, told Us Weekly in a statement. “I wish he had said something and just ended it. But at least now I understand why he was so hurtful to me so many times. And I will say this. Those in glass houses should not throw stones. I do wish him all the best.”
The 74-year-old reality star penned in his upcoming memoir The Golden Years, slated for release on November 4, that he told second runner-up Faith Martin, 63, that he felt “trapped” ahead of his televised nuptials and brief marriage with Theresa.
Gerry admitted that he believed to be doing the right thing after he was asked why he decided to still jump the broom with Theresa.
He shared with the news outlet that he wasn’t very joyful about getting married, and divulged that he got into the details of how he felt at certain points in his memoir.
Gerry is candid about not “being worried” about Theresa reading the book, as he feels “she shouldn’t be worried.”
He added that everyone deserves happiness, admitting that he wishes Theresa well and hopes she finds her own happiness. Gerry also praised Theresa for “embracing a career” since it might be her “source of hapiness.”
