CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A new entertainment venue next to Bank of America Stadium was approved by the Charlotte City Council Monday night.
Tepper Sports and Entertainment, which owns the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC, will build a privately funded 4,400-seat entertainment arena.
The venue, which would be near the North Gate of the stadium, could host between 80 and 120 shows per year.
City leaders say it could fill a gap in venue sizes across Charlotte.
The two-acre site would not need rezoning, and it is part of TSE’s 2025 funding request.
The City Council approved lease amendments with TSE to its 2024 lease. The lease would also keep the Panthers in town for another 20 years. If the team were to cease operations in Charlotte, the venue would still operate.
TSE is responsible for paying the city an annual rent of $500,000 for the venue’s land, and the city would have five days of use in the venue.
