Fede Dorcaz, a popular singer and model form Argentina, has been shot and killed in Mexico City.
He was 29.
The Hollywood Reporter said that Dorcaz was preparing to appear on the dancing reality show Las Estrellas Bailan en Hoy, which was to air on Monday. The outlet said that he left rehearsals, and his car was “intercepted by two people on motorcycles.” They reportedly shot at Dorcaz at least three times, with one shot hitting him in the neck causing him to die instantly.
The Hollywood Reporter said there is speculation that the incident could have been an attempted armed robbery.
“The HOY family mourns the passing of our friend and colleague, Fede Docaz,” a statement from the show on Instagram read. “We joined in the grief of his entire family, his parents, and his girlfriend, Mariana Avila. Mariana and Fede were one of our planned couples for the new season of Las Estrellas Bailan en Hoy. Fede leaves a great void in our team. His memory and his passion will continue to inspire us always. Rest in peace, Fede Dorcaz.”
The young singer had a pair of hits — “No Eres Tu” and “Cara Bonita,” which were in the top 10 on Mexican radio, per the Hollywood Reporter.
Dorcaz moved to Mexico just a few years ago, per The Hollywood Reporter, after leaving for years with his family in Spain.
“You will always be my favorite person in the whole world,” Avila wrote on X of Dorcaz. “I love you, I love you, I love you and I will always love you. I don’t want to spend one more day without you, baby. I’m waiting for your goodnight message, love please come back, you know I was never that strong without you by my side.”
