Kensington Palace makes surprise Kate Middleton announcement – Royals – News

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate, are embarking on an unexpected journey to Northern Ireland to celebrate the potential of rural regions and budding entrepreneurs.

This trip marks the Duke and Duchess’s first return to Ulster since their visit to Belfast three years prior, where they engaged in a cocktail-making competition at a market and took a tour of Carrickfergus.

In a last-minute announcement, Kensington Palace revealed that the Royal pair would “spend the day visiting innovative organizations that showcase growth and investment in rural areas and demonstrate entrepreneurial and creative opportunities for young people”.

Their most recent significant joint public outing was a visit to Southport following the heartbreaking knife attack in July 2024. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge expressed their support for the families of the girls slain in the Southport incident by visiting their schools and commending their “remarkable legacies”.

William and Kate met with the parents of Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, Bebe King, six, and Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, as they were greeted on Tuesday, September 23, by students at two schools which the girls attended. The girls tragically lost their lives in the attack during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class on July 29 of the previous year, reports OK! 

While visiting Churchtown Primary School, where Alice and Bebe were students, the couple were given a tour of a new playground built in their memory following a fundraising campaign.

Addressing the school’s 700 students, William stated: “This playground is a symbol of how the community have come together to create such a positive space for the pupils of this school, a symbol of remembrance and resilience, a testament that love will always overcome tragedy.”
