WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) – A new festival is kicking off this week in Whitley County featuring local and regional musical acts alongside motorsports events.
The Music and Mud Festival is happening at the Whitley County Fairgrounds through three days. The gates open at 3 p.m. on Oct. 16.
The event features gospel, bluegrass, and country southern rock performances from local and regional artists and bands.
“We really wanted to give our local artists a chance to play in their hometown, and play in their home county, and to show people how much talent we have here in Whitley County,” said Amber Owens, Whitley County Fiscal Court project director.
The festival includes a demo derby Friday night and a mud bog Saturday afternoon. Attendees are welcome to bring blankets and lawn chairs to sit on while they enjoy the music.
The event will also feature food and local charity booths.
It is a cash-only event with tickets sold at the door. Admission is $10 per day for individuals 13 and older, and $5 per day for children aged 6 to 12. Weekend passes are $25 for individuals 13 and older, and $10 for children aged 6 to 12. Kids 5 and under get in free.
More details about the event can be found on the Whitley County Fair Facebook page.
