Yung Miami Accuses Tyla of Stealing Song Idea for New Single “Chanel”

Yung Miami has called out Tyla for allegedly stealing her song idea following the South African star’s announcement of her new single, “Chanel.” The City Girls rapper took to social media to air her frustrations, claiming that Tyla’s upcoming release mirrors a track she once shared privately with her.

In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Yung Miami wrote, “This girl really ran off with my song and ion know how to feel about it. Mind you I played this song for this girl.” She followed up with another post saying, “Like… B*h I’m confused!” In a final tweet, she added, “Take me to Chanel > put me in Chanel.”

The rapper also reposted a fan’s message that read, “PSA – It is Tyla! She has a new song called ‘Chanel.’ The chorus is ‘Put me in Chanel, Put me in Chanel,’” adding, “Let’s talk about it!!!!!”

Tyla, meanwhile, has not publicly responded to the accusations. On Wednesday (Oct. 15), the Grammy-winning artist announced her new single “Chanel”, set for release on October 24, marking the beginning of her next musical era. She teased the track with the caption, “PUT HER IN MF CHANELLLLLLLL,” and shared pre-save links across major streaming platforms. “We did our big one,” she wrote in another Instagram post.

The single announcement follows Tyla’s second EP, WWP (We Wanna Party), which dropped in July. The project featured fan-favorite tracks like “Bliss,” “Is It,” and “Dynamite” featuring Wizkid. Interestingly, “Chanel” was originally previewed during Tyla’s WWP listening event in Berlin earlier this year, leading many to believe it would appear on the EP. It didn’t — and now, with Yung Miami’s claims surfacing, fans are questioning when exactly the song was recorded.

The controversy adds an unexpected twist ahead of Tyla’s We Wanna Party Tour, which kicks off November 11 in Tokyo and continues through London, Paris, Johannesburg, and New York. As of now, Yung Miami has not indicated whether she plans to release her own version of “Take Me to Chanel.”
