LIVE FROM NEW YORK — For the third consecutive week, “Saturday Night Live” is gearing up for a new episode.
Popular singer-songwriter Sabrina Carpenter will take on double duty as both host and musical guest.
Carpenter, fresh off the release of her chart-topping album “Man’s Best Friend,” will be making her hosting debut. She previously performed on the show in 2024 and alongside Paul Simon at the SNL50 anniversary special in February 2025.
The show kicked off its 51st season on Oct. 4 with musician Bad Bunny as host and musical guest Doja Cat performing.
On Oct. 11, former SNL cast member Amy Poehler hosted alongside musical guest Role Model. Poehler anchored “Weekend Update” during her tenure and has hosted twice before — once in 2010 and again in 2015 alongside Tina Fey, who made a surprise appearance during Saturday’s cold open. Musician Charli XCX also made an appearance during Role Model’s performance.
“SNL” fans will be excited to know that former Staten Islander Colin Jost, the longest-serving “Weekend Update” anchor in the show’s history, is still behind the desk. Joining him for Season 51 is his longtime “Weekend Update” co-anchor, Michael Che, along with familiar faces Kenan Thompson, Chloe Fineman, Bowen Yang and Mikey Day.
Featured players Andrew Dismukes, Marcello Hernandez, James Austin Johnson, Sarah Sherman, Ashley Padilla and Jane Wickline have also returned. “SNL” also welcomed five new featured players for Season 51: Ben Marshall, Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Culhane, Kam Patterson and Veronika Slowikowska.
Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim, Devon Walker, Michael Longfellow and Emil Wakim have all departed, along with several writers, including Celeste Yim and Rosebud Baker.
