Demi Moore’s Hollywood Curls at the 2025 Academy Museum Gala

At the fifth annual Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday night, Demi Moore updated her pin-straight black hair for a refined style belonging to Old Hollywood. Outside the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, the 62-year-old “The Substance” actress posed on the azure-colored carpet alongside Lucy Liu; her long ends shaped in loose waves.

The movement in Moore’s hair was the work of celebrity hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos, whose client list includes Penélope Cruz and Amal Clooney. “I wanted to bring Old Hollywood back, but as the most modern version,” Giannetos said of the style inspiration in an official press release. “Demi is always so fashion-forward and continues to inspire us. I created beautiful, bouncy, brushed-through Hollywood hair to complement her beautiful gown.”

To start, Giannetos towel-dried Moore’s hair and let it sit before going in with a blow dryer and a round brush. He then set her hair with clips and left it alone to cool for about 30 minutes. “Once the hair was cool, I removed the clips and let the hair down,” he continued. “Next, I back combed the hair to give a little volume at the roots.”

After brushing through the body of her hair, Giannetos spritzed her head with Parfums de Marly Valaya Hair Perfume. The aroma was a complex combination of floral, woody and musky notes, bolstered by mandarin, musk and bergamot.

Moore’s hair aesthetic complemented her maroon and burgundy bespoke Prada gown, embellished with a plunging V-shaped neckline, spaghetti straps and a pad under her skirt on the right hip. Meanwhile, her makeup, crafted by Rokael Lizama, stayed within the color parameters of the dress, with varying shades of the deep hue on her eyelids and a lighter tone on her lips.

Elsewhere at the annual gathering, actors, producers and music artists alike paraded around in designs plucked straight from the spring 2026 runways. Pierpaolo Piccioli’s Balenciaga seemingly made a big splash, with stars such as Elle Fanning, Tessa Thompson and Naomi Watts sporting the textural designs, while others such as Ayo Edebiri and Kirsten Wiig opted for Matthieu Blazy’s new Chanel.
