Kristen Bell found herself at the center of backlash from fans after her recent social media post celebrating her 12th wedding anniversary with Dax Shephard went viral for its bizarre caption.
“Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: ‘I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I’m heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would,’” Bell, 45, wrote alongside a photo of herself and Shephard, 50, with their arms wrapped around one another.
Social media users quickly flooded the comments, and many were divided on how they felt about the Nobody Wants This star’s caption.
“Kristen there’s no way you posted this during domestic violence awareness month,” wrote one person, while another added, “That’s … a very weird thing to say.”

“Thats a wildly sad and insensitive thing to say considering it’s domestic violence awareness month and thousands of women have died a the hands of the man they trusted…” a third person chimed in.
However, others thought Shephard’s words were funny and fitting for the longtime couple’s sense of humor.
“This is LOVE,” Brooklyn Nine-Nine alum Terry Crews wrote and added a heart and laughing emoji at the end.
The official account for NBC’s Dateline also left a comment, writing, “Screenshotted.”
Neither Bell or Shephard have publicly addressed the Instagram post.
