Singing in Kazakh, Winning Hearts Worldwide

There’s no lack of options for revelers seeking a wild night out in Las Vegas, but when it comes to narrowing down your choices to assure the maximum-level great time, it certainly doesn’t hurt to ask well-established DJ—and Vegas strip staple—Deorro for a few suggestions.

The DJ, known for EDM bangers like “FIVE MORE HOURS” (featuring Chris Brown) and “Discoteca” with Pitbull and IAMCHINO, is based in Los Angeles, but has been performing in Vegas since 2012. Through regular appearances and residences over the past 13 years, Sin City has become a second home for Deorro; it’s a place where he can tap into his musical roots and a party is basically guaranteed. “Vegas always reminded me a lot of the way I used to play very, very back in the day,” he says. “It’s very open and format friendly, you know, where a lot of people go out and they want to have a good time.”

More from Rolling Stone

Deorro has become an expert on the best places to visit for good food, drinks, and entertainment, while also staying true to the local community that keeps Las Vegas strong and thriving. “You get that experience where it’s more than just a destination city,” he says. “I’ve met so many incredible people.”

Still, he recognizes that the sheer amount of Vegas nightlife options might be overwhelming for newcomers and Vegas-regulars alike, remarking that “Exploring Las Vegas is never ending.”

To help you out, here are his insider tips on where to start and how to have the best experience. And pro Deorro tip? Make a rough plan but go with the flow – whether you end up at the club or belting out a song at karaoke, the fun of Vegas is in its spontaneity.

Ghost Donkey

To start your night out, Deorro recommends Ghost Donkey, a speakeasy inside The Cosmopolitan casino and hotel. “They do this tableside cocktail. It’s incredible. If you go there, you have to make sure you get that,” the DJ recommends.

The bar, named for the white donkeys that are said to be good luck when spotted in agave fields, specializes in tequila and mezcal drinks and the cocktail list will appeal to everyone, regardless of where they’re at in their agave journey. Ghost Donkey’s head of mixology Gedeon Tsegaye suggests connoisseurs dive deep into the bar’s extensive and obscure liquor collection, while those looking to try some exciting and creative cocktails try the “Burro Tropical” for a “fun, vibrant (and delicious) way to celebrate.” Don’t confuse the chill neighborhood atmosphere with calm, though. As Tsegaye expertly puts it, “Tequila definitely brings the party out of people!” Deorro agrees, saying “It’s an incredible vibe.”

Superfrico

Executive of Beverage Niko Novick recommends diners try the “untouchable” chicken parmesan, “It’s the only dish that’s never left the menu and never will…It’s old-school Italian-American with a psychedelic punch of the unexpected.” When it comes to beverages, prepare your palate because Novick suggests you order everything on offer, saying, “The ever-changing cocktail menu is developed each season to affect as many of the five senses as possible by combining social, artistic, and culinary components.”

Especially lucky visitors may find their way to Superfrico’s members-only hideout Ski Lodge, “a tucked-away cocktail den within the restaurant space with its own rules and rhythm.” Beverage options include shot skis and the Slava’s Snowstorm, an amped-up version of an espresso martini, served ice-cold with aquavit and toasted coconut-cardamom foam.

Deorro is a particular fan of Ski Lodge. “You all of a sudden appear in a cabin in the snow,” he describes. “The bartenders have snow gear on like they’re about to go skiing and they serve really nice cocktails.”

OMNIA

Massive nightclub OMNIA, inside Caesars Palace is among Deorro’s favorite places both to turn up as a guest and to perform as an artist. Among his favorite features—besides the music, obviously—is the kinetic chandelier that hangs over the dance floor, pulsing and changing with the music. “The chandelier becomes part of the show,” he says. “It’s what I think a Vegas night club should be.”

OMNIA’s Jason Strauss agrees, naturally, saying,  “We’ve created an environment where both the artists and the guests feed off each other’s energy…“For DJs, it’s a dream platform — the production, the visuals, the connection to the crowd—it all elevates their performance. And for our guests, it’s not just a night out; it’s a fully immersive experience that feels custom-built around the music and the moment.”

Deorro reiterates that OMNIA has something exciting for everybody, no matter your taste in music or energy level. “What I love is the diversity,” he says. “One night it’s a Latin club, the next it’s ravers. OMNIA gives me the freedom to play almost anything.”

No matter how transient Las Vegas feels to visitors, it’s important to recognize that every memorable experience is only made possible by the hard-working local community. And the best nights out, according to Deorro, start with making friends with your bartenders and servers: “We get really cool with the staff anywhere we go. We always tell them, ‘We’re doing a show, come out tonight!’ So everyone gets excited. We’ve  managed to build a nice little network of great friends and that’s what’s really grown over time.”

Whether you’re a resident DJ, a first-time visitor, or a local, only one thing can be guaranteed during a Las Vegas night out—expect the unexpected!
