Actor Eric Dane announced in April that he had been diagnosed with ALS.
Now Dane, 52, will play a character with ALS in the NBC series “Brilliant Minds.”
The actor, known for his roles in HBO’s “Euphoria” and ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” has an upcoming guest role on the show.
NBC shared a photo on Instagram of Dane with series star Zachary Quinto, who plays Dr. Oliver Wolf.
“A firefighter, a father, and a diagnosis that changes everything,” the network said, teasing the episode, which airs Nov. 24.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Dane plays will play a firefighter who is diagnosed with ALS.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a progressive and fatal nervous system disease that causes the loss of muscle control.
Slurred speech, muscle twitching, difficulty swallowing and weakness in arms and legs are among the symptoms. There is currently no cure.
In “Euphoria,” Dane plays Cal Jacobs, father of Jacob Elordi’s character Nate Jacobs.
The long-delayed third season of the show is in the works, and Dane filmed scenes for the show.
He also played Dr. Mark Sloan, the plastic surgeon dubbed McSteamy on “Grey’s Anatomy.”
Dane’s film roles include “X-Men: The Last Stand” (2006), “Open Water 2: Adrift” (2006), “Marley & Me” (2008), “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” (2024) and “Borderline,“ which debuted in March.
