Victoria Beckham went from being a world famous pop star to a full-time mom in the blink of an eye — and according to her, it was a difficult change to navigate.
During the Wednesday, October 22, episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, the former Spice Girl admitted that she didn’t feel “fulfilled” by her new life.
“I had Brooklyn, I moved to Manchester–which is where David was living and playing for Manchester United. He’s a big star,” Victoria, 51, recalled. “It was quite the transition for me, because I was so happy to be with David [Beckham], have a baby, I felt so blessed — but I felt a bit lost, as well.”
The change in pace to a new, quieter life was “difficult” for the fashion designer.
“Going from being in the band, traveling the world, being on stage with your best friends to all of a sudden being in a flat, in Manchester, on your own, with a baby,” she continued. “It was tough.”
After nearly a decade of touring and topping Billboard charts, the Spice Girls broke up in December 2000. Victoria and her then 20-month-old son Brooklyn joined David in Manchester. The couple welcomed their second son, Romeo, in September 2002.
“I felt ashamed to admit that I didn’t feel entirely fulfilled,” she told host Alex Cooper. “There was a clock in my head that was just tick, tick, tick, ticking away. I just struggled to figure out what was next.”
David, 50, and Victoria went on to welcome two more children: son Cruz in 2005, and daughter Harper in 2011. David retired from professional soccer two years later and relocated his family to London, where they still live.
