Prince Andrew recently announced that he was giving up his royal titles after a discussion with King Charles, but apparently he’s still forcing staff at the Royal Lodge (the sprawing Windsor mansion he refuses to leave) to call him “Your Royal Highness.”
Rob Shuter’s #ShuterScoop reports that not only is Andrew insisting on HRH titles at home, he’s making staff bow/curtsy when entering a room.
“Nothing has changed inside Royal Lodge,” a household insider says. “The butler still says Your Royal Highness, and the staff still bow. Andrew’s made it clear—palace rules don’t apply inside his walls. He insists it’s his birthright—not something the King can erase.”
Another source notes, “He’s living in his own royal bubble. To the world, he’s a fallen prince—but in his home, he’s still the Duke.”
Andrew announced that he’d be giving up his titles on October 17, writing in a statement:
“In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family. I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life. With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honors which have been conferred upon me. As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.”
