For the first time in a year, Louisiana rising country artist and “American Idol” runner-up John Foster released new music on Friday.
His single “Little Goes a Long Way” dropped at midnight on all streaming platforms.
“You know, it’s always a great feeling to play an original song on stage. And so now I finally, not only is it my first new release since last October, but it’s also my very first upbeat song,” Foster said Wednesday. “So it’s a super fun tune, super, like honkytonk-inspired.”
In May, Foster, a native of Addis, performed at the nearby Plaquemine Waterfront Park during his hometown visit as an “Idol” finalist. Friday night, he’ll return to that stage to perform for the International Acadian Festival. The bonus — he’ll sing “Little” live for the first time. His show starts at 9 p.m.; opening act Lauren Lee Band goes on at 7 p.m.
Foster is hopeful the park will be packed with fans again.
“You’re not at the football game ’cause there’s no local football game. So what y’all doing?” he asked. “You know, come enjoy some good music. I mean, come enjoy. Shoot. If you don’t wanna come for me, come for Lauren Lee. Lauren Lee’s the band that’s opening, and she’s incredible, puts on a great show.”
Tickets are required for the Friday night show and are $26 at the gate. The gates open at 4 p.m.
