Key Points

  • Mayor of Kingstown stars Jeremy Renner as Mike McClusky, a mediator between the titular town’s police and its criminals.

  • Edie Falco, Lennie James, and Laura Benanti are among the stars joining season 4.

  • Season 4 premieres on Sunday, Oct. 26, on Paramount+.

Taylor Sheridan’s reign over television shows no signs of slowing down, with one of his biggest hits, Mayor of Kingstown, now returning to Paramount+.

Created by Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, the crime series follows Mike McLusky (Jeremy Renner), whose family has long mediated between the police and the criminals of the show’s titular Michigan town.

Dillon previously teased to Entertainment Weekly that season 4 is all about “consequences,” exploring the tough choices people must make under extreme pressure.

Several stars are returning for the next chapter, along with some major new players looking to tip the balance of power. Here’s everything to know about the Mayor of Kingstown season 4 cast.

Jeremy Renner as Mike McLusky

Jeremy Renner can do it all: sing, write, and even run his own app that has since become a meme. But most of us still know him for his acting. From his Oscar-nominated turns in The Hurt Locker (2009) and The Town (2010) to playing Hawkeye in the MCU, Renner has proven his range.

Fans might also remember him for his work in the Mission: Impossible series (2011–2015), as well as American Hustle (2013), Arrival (2016), Wind River (2017) — which Sheridan wrote and directed — and Tag (2018).

In 2023, Renner survived a life-threatening snowplow accident, and he’s since made a remarkable return to the screen. One of his most anticipated upcoming projects is the third installment in Rian Johnson’s Knives Out film series, Wake Up Dead Man (2025).

Since the accident, Renner has also returned to play Mike McLusky on Mayor of Kingstown. Speaking to EW about Mike’s journey in season 4, Dillon explained that his past is coming back in full force.

“The past doesn’t catch up with you. It reloads,” he said. “So it’s coming and, in Mike’s case, it is right there. And Mike isn’t somebody who runs, and that’s what’s interesting. He stands and fights and he’s not ruled by fear or greed. So we just follow the truth of this character.”

Hugh Dillon as Ian Ferguson

Few singers successfully transition to acting, but Hugh Dillon is one of the exceptions. Some might know him best as the lead singer of Headstones and the indie rock band Hugh Dillon Redemption Choir, but Dillon is equally known for his onscreen presence, with roles on several Canadian dramas, including Flashpoint (2008–2012). He has also collaborated with Sheridan before, appearing in Wind River and on Yellowstone (2018–2021).

In addition to co-creating Mayor of Kingstown, Dillon stars as homicide detective Ian Ferguson.

When discussing season 4, Dillon told EW, “It’s a detonation, not an escalation. The blade’s sharper. The cuts go deeper. It’s about the intricacies of human emotion under pressure, and the choices we make when we have no good choices left. It’s an incendiary season 4.”

Tobi Bamtefa may have made a name for himself on Mayor of Kingstown, but viewers might also recognize him as a high-ranking knight on The Witcher (2019) and as a comedy club MC on Mae Martin’s dramedy Feel Good (2020–2021).

Here, Bamtefa plays Deverin “Bunny” Washington, a drug dealer and head of the Crips who has a friendly rapport with Mike.

Taylor Handley as Kyle McLusky

Taylor Handley has built a solid track record on procedurals and crime dramas, including NYPD Blue (2002), CSI: NY (2010), APB (2017), and Griselda (2024). You may have also seen him in movies like Bird Box (2018) and Outbreak (2024).

On Mayor of Kingstown, Handley plays Kyle McLusky, Mike’s younger brother and a Michigan State Police detective. However, at the start of season 4, he’s behind bars for attempted murder after a run-in with Robert (Hamish Allan-Headley).

Derek Webster as Stevie

Derek Webster first garnered attention for his starring role on the superhero series Night Man (1997–1999). His scene-stealing appearances on a range of crime dramas have kept him booked and busy ever since.

Over the years, Webster has landed guest roles on shows like Mental (2009), Ray Donovan (2016–2017), NCIS: New Orleans (2016–2019), and 9-1-1: Lone Star (2021–2025).

Now, Webster returns to Mayor of Kingstown for season 4, reprising his role as Stevie, a Kingstown PD detective.

Mayor of Kingstown marks Hamish Allan-Headley’s first major role after a string of guest spots on numerous shows. He’s since taken on bigger projects like Daredevil: Born Again (2025) and Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy (2025). He plays law enforcement in these two shows, just like he does in the Paramount+ series.

Here, Allan-Headley portrays Robert Sawyer, a police sergeant who leads a Kingstown SWAT team. In the season 3 finale, Kyle shoots Sawyer after he almost kills an innocent person, mistaking them for a gang member. Sawyer survives the incident, but it remains to be seen if he will return to the frontlines anytime soon.

Nishi Munshi has spent years as a guest star on everything from Switched at Birth (2012) and Days of Our Lives (2011–2013) to Lethal Weapon (2018–2019). But fans might remember her best as Gia, the vampire who brought edge and rock to The Originals (2014–2015).

On Mayor of Kingstown, Munshi plays Tracy McLusky, Kyle’s wife and the mother of their son. With Kyle now in prison, Tracy is seemingly left on her own, navigating the fallout of her husband’s choices while trying to raise their family.

Edie Falco as Nina Hobbs

For many, Edie Falco will always be the complicated mob wife Carmela on The Sopranos (1999–2007), a role that earned her three Emmys and a permanent place in TV history. She later won a fourth Emmy as the title character on Showtime’s Nurse Jackie (2009–2015).

Other notable credits across film and TV include HBO’s prison drama Oz (1997–2000) and the FX true crime anthology Impeachment: American Crime Story (2021), as well as Avatar: The Way of Water (2022).

Falco joins Mayor of Kingstown season 4 as Nina Hobbs, the new warden at Anchor Bay Correctional Facility.

Dillon told EW that Nina embodies the show’s unpredictable energy perfectly. “What I love about what we’ve constructed is that it has an unpredictable velocity that you cannot look away from. [Falco’s] character is that personified,” he said. “It is that unpredictability, which means it’s forever fascinating. I could watch her just in the monitors. She’s just so effortless. I’ve been a fan of hers for so long and then when you see her just at work, in the [Mayor of Kingstown] world, and with Jeremy Renner… it’s explosive.”

Lennie James as Frank Moses in ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ season 4

Many viewers will forever recognize Lennie James as Morgan Jones from The Walking Dead (2010–2018) and its spinoff, Fear the Walking Dead (2018–2023). But for those who didn’t spend a decade in the post-apocalyptic world with him, you might know James as the enigmatic Robert Hawkins on Jericho (2006–2008) or as the ruthless orphanage head, Mr. Cotton, in Blade Runner 2049 (2017).

James is set to star as Frank Moses, a respected gangster inspired by a real-life drug dealer that Dillon once knew, who was somehow never arrested.

“We always talk about gangsters and convicts and jail time, and I was always interested in this concept,” Dillon told EW. “And Lennie knocked it out of the park just as Frank Moses. There was just a sophistication to this gangster that’s pretty rock and roll that’s kind of fun to watch.”

Laura Benanti got her start on the stage, building a career that spans countless Broadway productions. She’s likely best known for playing Louise in the 2008 revival of Gypsy, a performance that earned her a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical.

On screen, Benanti has played a country singer on Nashville (2014–2015), a fashion designer on the Gossip Girl revival (2021–2023), and a wealthy widow on The Gilded Age (2023). She’s also lent her talents to Tick, Tick… Boom! (2021), No Hard Feelings (2023), and Kinda Pregnant (2025).

Benanti joins Mayor of Kingstown as Cindy Stephens, a newly recruited correctional officer and mother trying to make ends meet. Dillon shared with EW that Cindy is someone who really “needs this job” not only for the paycheck, but for the stability and the chance to put food on the table.

“I remember when the original prison in Kingston decommissioned, I was [scouting] it for Taylor,” Dillon recalled. “And there was a female correction officer there that I had talked to. To me, it was always an interesting story and it was just a matter of time until we had the runway to explore it.”
