Blue Willis is one of Hollywood’s most famous faces, having starred in countless hit movies and worked with some of the top filmmakers in the entertainment industry.
Included in the 70-year-old actor’s extensive film resume are his starring roles in the 1998 Michael Bay film Armageddon, which also featured Ben Affleck, Liv Tyler, Owen Wilson, and Steve Buscemi. Despite Armageddon being a huge success, that was the first and last time Bruce worked with Michael, as his initial experience on a movie with Michael had left him disillusioned. Bruce opened up about Michael in an interview in 2012 while discussing the film The Expendables 2.
“Few people will work with him now, and I know I will never work with him again,” he stated at the time. “It was a great crew, but a screaming director does not make for a pleasant set experience. But look, we were all big boys, and we got through it.”
Bruce sadly won’t be working with Michael or any other big-name director since he officially retired from acting in 2023 after he was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.
Bruce’s family already announced in 2022 that he’d be taking a break from acting after he was diagnosed with aphasia, which is a disorder that affects language and communication.
Shortly after, in February 2023, his family revealed that his condition had moved to frontotemporal dementia (FTD), which is a rare and aggressive brain disease that affects behavior, movement, and speech.
At the time, Bruce’s family released a statement that read: “FTD is a cruel disease that many of us have never heard of and can strike anyone.
For people under 60, FTD is the most common form of dementia, and because getting the diagnosis can take years, FTD is likely much more prevalent than we know.
As Bruce’s condition advances, we hope that any media attention can be focused on shining a light on this disease that needs far more awareness and research.”

Bruce’s wife, Emma Heming Willis, 47, recently made a heartbreaking confession about how his health situation affected her during her appearance on the Make Time Wellness Podcast.
“It’s really important, I think, as caregivers, to get your feelings out. I kept mine in for very long, and it almost killed me,” Emma shared.
“It’s very important for caregivers, who usually are very isolated, they don’t really have a community, they haven’t figured that out yet, because they’re so consumed,” she continued.
Emma further said: “Most have little to no support, so its very difficult for them to connect. I mean, I think that was like something beautiful that came out of covid, there’s a lot of online support groups, so that you be home, and be able to log in to a support group to be able to talk, connect, be able to get your feelings out, so that you’re not bottling it in.”
