Pankaj Tripathi, one of the most versatile actors in Bollywood, wears his humility like a badge of honour. Having been the son of a farmer in the village of Belsand, in Bihar, he has grown up without drifting from his roots. In an interview with The Wire, he commented, “When I go back to my village and see the other boys I grew up with, I realize how much I have changed and how much I value. It is all a byproduct of all that I have read and learned.” He even added in jest about buying spectacles for ₹5, when he had ₹10. The simplicity of living clearly is part and parcel of his life.
