It looks like Netflix has some exciting new features coming for its customers.

That’s because the streaming giant plans to update its platform, with new features that are set to make the viewing experience better. The updates include more immersive and interactive capabilities, per the company’s chief technology officer, Elizabeth Stone.

During TechCrunch Digest 2025, Stone revealed that three new initiatives are coming to the platform and will appear on Netflix, beginning with real-time voting.

In the past, Netflix previously had a voting trial during “Dinner Time Live with David Chang” in the US. As a result, the streaming giant plans to offer the interactive option during other live programming.

The new interactive experience will also become applicable to the reboot of “Star Search,” a popular talent show that was originally on TV during the 80s and 90s that’s set to release in 2026.

The show will use real-time voting technology so viewers can select their own favorite contestants using their TV remote or smartphone.

“If you’re sitting at home watching ‘Star Search’ on your TV, you’ll be able to… actually put in a vote that advances or doesn’t advance some of the contestants on the show,” Stone said, according to TechCrunch.

Also headed to the streaming app are “more immersive experiences.”

Through this move, the company says it’ll bring its own content “to life” via animations and dynamic special effects.

Right now, it’s unclear what this entails but as for what Netflix has planned, it seems as though the look of the homescreen will become more animated than it is right now.

Immersion is also another feature that’ll be explored, as party games are making its way to the Netflix service.

While the streaming platform has experimented with mobile and cloud gaming in the past, Netflix plans to expand the idea to include party titles for families to enjoy on their TVs without needing separate controllers or subscriptions.

“We’ve got some fun living room party games launching in Q4 this year, more next year – for example, Boggle. So it’s on your living room TV screen. You’re able to do it with friends and family locally using your mobile phone,” Stone added.

Also, kids profiles are receiving a total makeover.

The revamped kids homepage is on its way and will come with a new navigation bar that links to the content young viewers have watched and saved, housing it all in one place.
