President Donald Trump sharply responded to a reporter’s question about potential air strikes against Venezuela while aboard Air Force One on Sunday.
The Trump, 79, had already dismissed reports on Friday that he had decided to target Venezuela, following The Miami Herald’s claim that the Latin nation’s military installations could be hit “at any moment.”
Although Trump has not officially decided to strike Venezuela, he has previously admitted to considering action against the country led by Nicolas Maduro, as he continues to target boats in the Caribbean and Pacific that he alleges are transporting fentanyl to the United States.
A reporter questioned Trump about his plans for inland Venezuela during the flight from Washington, D. C. to Florida, asking, “You said it’s not true that you’ve made a decision on striking inland Venezuela. Are there actual plans for the strikes in the near future?”
Trump retorted, “How can I answer a question like that? Are there plans for a strike on Venezuela? Who would say that?” He continued, “Supposing there were. Would I say that to you?’Yes, we have plans. We have very secret plans!’ Who would say that? You know, what kind of a question is it?”
The second-term president then reiterated that he had not yet made a decision regarding the situation in Venezuela.
“Look, we’ll see what happens with Venezuela. Venezuela has sent us hundreds of hundreds of thousands of people from prison, from mental institutions, drug addicts…and other countries did, too. Because we were run by stupid people. Very, very stupid people,” Trump stated.
“[Joe] Biden was the worst president in the history of our country, by far. We had open borders. And many countries – The Congo – many countries, they sent their prisoners, they sent prisoners, they sent drug dealers, they sent drug addicts, they sent anybody – anybody that they didn’t want – they sent them through our country. And Venezuela was one of the worst abusers,” he continued.

This marks another instance where Trump has become irritated with a journalist over their line of questioning. The Mirror US previously reported that he engaged in a tense confrontation with a BBC Breakfast reporter while aboard Air Force One during the release of Israeli hostages from Gaza.
Trump lashed out at the correspondent, declaring “The war is over, okay? Do you understand that?” following their inquiry that triggered his anger.
