Even at 77-years-old, I think Robert Plant is possibly the coolest person in history. His time in Led Zeppelin earned him the moniker of “Golden God” and truly, I’m not sure a more appropriate title has ever been bestowed. Besides his enduring good looks and lasting talent, Plant has an air of serious whimsy about him that is truly magnetic. And I don’t think it is seen or felt more than when he is singing “Ramble On.”
The song in and of itself is magical. It weaves subtle poetry and explosive instrumentals seamlessly. Though wildly different from Led Zeppelin’s original version, Plant still plays it today with his new folky, bluesy twist and it is just as breathtaking as ever.
Fans who witnessed the show and clip were equally in awe, noting just how timeless his vocals really are.
“[He’s] 77 and still sounds amazing. Boys and girls this is a true rock and roll singing legend,” said one dedicated fan.
“Still so great and gorgeous,” confessed another.

While Plant has talked about his need to switch up the vocal key countless times, he is still clearly currying the favor of fans today. This song in particular is one he sees as a snapshot of time for him. Though Plant has always been keen on pressing forward, that doesn’t mean his newer sound doesn’t harken back to his Zeppelin glory days.
In his solo work, “Dance With You Tonight” Plant subtly references “dancing days.” His song “Great Spirit” has a clever line that goes “the accident remains the same.” And one of his most obvious references is his song “The May Queen” who is the star of Zeppelin’s career-defining “Stairway to Heaven.”
“I like the idea of doing that,” he confessed to Rolling Stone magazine in 2020. “I like the idea of it having the continuity — well, not continuity, but a reference in a different time. There’s loads of them. They’re all over the records.”
Currently Plant is on tour with his band Saving Grace to promote their new album.
