IFC’s high concept horror film, Good Boy, took a familiar horror premise, but twisted it on its head thanks to its unique gimmick. The film earned acclaim for its lead character, played by Indy, the real-life dog of director Ben Leonberg. The film was a decent hit for IFC, earning over $8.5 million at the global box office, more than ten times its budget of just $750,000.
If you missed out on this one in theaters, you’re going to have your chance on streaming soon. Good Boy will stream on Shudder starting from November 21. TV Squad reviewed the film and had mixed thoughts on it, but if you want to find out for yourself, the film’s running time is just 73 minutes, so why not give it a watch and find out for yourself? You’ve only got an hour or so to lose, especially if you’ve already got a Shudder account. It’s definitely more accessible than, say, Skinamarink, at least!
Whether or not Good Boy is a revolutionary horror film, it’s definitely unlike anything you’ve seen before, so if you’re a horror enthusiast, it’s certainly one of the most noteworthy releases of the year. Give it a shot and then let us know what you think!
