Katy Perry has released a new single, “Bandaids.”
The track may hint at her recent split from Orlando Bloom.
The accompanying music video shows Perry enduring a series of painful situations before ending with a touching nod to her daughter, Daisy.
One year after the release of her divisive sixth studio album 143, Katy Perry is back with a new single, “Bandaids.”
The song, which chronicles the end of a relationship, may be a nod to her recent split from Orlando Bloom. The singer wrote on Instagram that she “struggled for months with the idea of putting this song out…even after all these years it can be scary to be vulnerable…but hopefully the lyrics of this song resonate with someone going through what I have been through and maybe they won’t feel so alone and will find the strength to keep going like I have ❤️🩹”
Perry opens the track by singing about how she did her best to make it work: “Hand to God, I promised, I tried / There’s no stone left unturned / It’s not what you did, it’s what you didn’t / You were there, but you weren’t.”
She then goes on to describe a partner who repeatedly disappointed her. “Got so used to you letting me down / No use tryna send flowers now / Telling myself you’ll change, you don’t / Band-Aids over a broken heart.”
The official music video shows Perry in a series of dangerous situations like getting her hand caught in a garbage disposal, being electrocuted at a gas station, and almost causing a car crash.
But in a moment of levity, the video also features a subtle nod to her daughter with Bloom, Daisy, when the camera lingers on a daisy in one sequence.
News of Perry and Bloom’s breakup came in June 2025 when a source told Us Weekly that they had ended their engagement after almost a decade of dating. “It’s not contentious at the moment,” the insider shared. “Katy is of course upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life.”
Perry is now reportedly dating Justin Trudeau, the former prime minister of Canada.
