Despite A-list talent involved both in front of and behind the camera, the dark comedy film Die My Love isn’t living up to its credentials among audiences. The movie premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, where it competed for the prestigious Palme d’Or. It’s headlined by Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson, directed by Lynne Ramsay, and produced by Martin Scorsese. The indie distributor Mubi reportedly picked up the film’s distribution rights for a whopping $24 million, and has been sending Lawrence and Pattinson on an expansive publicity run. And yet, despite all that, the movie earned one of the rarest CinemaScore grades from opening day crowds.
