Gospel singer and actor Yolanda Adams is joining Alicia Keys’ Hell’s Kitchen on Broadway in a limited engagement, taking over the role of Miss Liza Jane for Kecia Lewis. Lewis will play her final performance on Dec. 13.
Adams will start performing as Miss Lisa Jane on Nov. 21, alternating with Lewis until Dec. 16, when Adams will take over the role. Adams will play the character until Jan. 25, 2026.
Adams said in a statement that she has always wanted to become part of a Broadway show, and now she is able to fulfill her dream thanks to Hell’s Kitchen.
“Performing on Broadway has always been a dream of mine,” she said. “Growing up a musician, Miss Liza Jane reminds me of a wonderful mentor that blessed my life immensely. Alicia Keys has crafted an amazing story that exemplifies how we are all connected in one way or another. This show feels like home! The central themes – joy, pain, beauty and tough love – are universal experiences allowing everyone to see themselves in this musical. I am beyond thrilled to step into Hell’s Kitchen with my fellow ensemble members and bring this amazing story to life!”

Telling the story of a 17-year-old girl growing up in New York City, Hell’s Kitchen is described as a “relatable, raw, and refreshingly fun…celebration of finding yourself, your purpose, and the people who lift you up.”

Michael Greif directs with choreography by Camille A. Brown. The musical’s book is by Kristopher Diaz and music is by Keys, who also wrote new songs as well as lending her biggest commercial hits.
