Trip-hop legends Massive Attack will return in 2026 with new music — but don’t expect to find it on Spotify.
“from next year we will release a cache of work created in the recent past,” the group posted. “tracks will be available physically and digitally via a new label with a spotify exception.”
It’s unclear if the band is forming a new label or just making a switch.
Massive Attack announced their departure from Spotify earlier this year, citing CEO Daniel Ek’s leadership of the AI military technology company Helsing. Just to clear up some misinformation, Helsing has one client — the country of Ukraine — and Ek’s drones, donated by Germany, are credited as one of the reasons Ukraine has survived against Russia this long. Massive Attack haven’t come out against helping Ukraine, they just don’t seem to like the idea of AI military technology, which, same.

Massive Attack’s last batch of new music came in 2020 with the Euotopia EP. Over the summer they formed an artistic alliance for artists who felt they were being censored for their views on the not-really-debatable Israeli warcrimes in Gaza. They later geoblocked their music from appearing in Israel. The band will appear at Primavera Sound in 2026,
