Oxis only began putting her music out on Bandcamp in 2023, but it’s been a busy couple of years: The maritime-minded producer, who just wrapped up a tour supporting Magdalena Bay, is already about to release her eighth full-length album. The appropriately-titled Oxis 8 arrives in January, and Oxis is announcing the record today with its lead single “Guili.”
Of the new album, Oxis says in a press release:
Music for me is not a planned thing. Nothing in life is. The pain and beauty of it all is that nothing is constant, and when something feels sensitive and powerful you have to bite at it quickly, or else it disappears. That’s how I made Oxis 8. Capturing whatever felt tangible when I sat at my computer. It’s hard to catch a small fish.
The moody, downtempo “Guili” is billed as a “elegant expansion to the subaqueous universe,” and you can check it out below.
Oxis 8 is out 1/16 via Boom Records.
