Scott Jennings on Tuesday declared he’d pick actor Sydney Sweeney to be his emergency spokesperson ― but he got dragged for the “cringe” way he said it. One critic even dropped a vomiting emoji.
So Phillip asked her panelists: “If you lost your voice, who would you want to speak on your behalf?”
Actors Morgan Freeman and Tracee Ellis Ross were among the answers before Jennings, the news network’s star GOP pundit, got awkward.
“The most recent person to conduct an interview in our pop culture to exhibit message discipline and a willingness to manhandle some ridiculous woke reporter was Sydney Sweeney,” Jennings began. “And so I’m going to purposely lose my voice and see if I can get Sydney to take care of all my public interviews and speaking engagements. I think this would be a brilliant partnership. And so, if you’d like to do it, the job is yours. I’ve been doing a lot of book sales this week. I could use an extra pair of hands. And so if Sydney wants to come on board, let’s do it right now.”
Jennings, whose new Donald Trump book, “A Revolution of Common Sense,” came out Tuesday, appeared to be referring to a recent interview in which a reporter tried to lure Sweeney into addressing a jeans ad that stirred controversy and Trump’s delight over a report that she’s a registered Republican. But the “Christy” star mostly deflected the queries. “I think that when I have an issue that I want to speak about, people will hear,” the actor told the reporter.
But Jennings’ tongue-in-cheek attempt at enlisting the star’s help got hit with heavy criticism. Check out the comments here:
