There are few musical artists in history with as loyal a following as Robert Plant. Ever since his “Golden God” days as the frontman of Led Zeppelin, the renowned singer has been blowing audiences away with his one-of-a-kind voice…and as a recent video proved, he still sounds just as amazing as ever.

Plant and his band Saving Grace (featuring vocalist Suzi Dian, drummer Oli Jefferson, guitarist Tony Kelsey, banjo and string player Matt Worley, cellist Barney Morse-Brown) played the latest installment of NPR’s Tiny Desk concert series, thrilling listeners (and viewers) with a set including four songs from their new album: “Gospel Plough,” “Higher Rock,” “Everybody’s Song,” “It’s a Beautiful Day Today,” and “Gallows Pole.”

“The descriptions I received on tottering around this spaghetti here were very, very charming and kind. We are not, in fact, Americana,” Plant said after their first song, adding, “We are Englishcana.”

“And we all live and operate in an area which is on the border of England and Wales. That in itself doesn’t seem to be a big deal, but for me it’s always been inspiring to be attached to Celtic culture,” Plant continued, going on to explain that “the Celtic culture with its music and with its similarities to North African music has always been a great intrigue.”

Fans in the comments on a YouTube video of the concert couldn’t help but get emotional over the performance.

“I don’t know why I’m crying…heaven in my ears. The sounds of the past, the voice of the experience,” one person wrote.

“I loved Led Zeppelin as a young man. As an old(er) man, I love Robert Plant’s solo work even more. An artist who gets better with time,” a second fan added, with a third admitting, “Tears of Joy each time I hear RP and the band.”

“Somehow knowing that RP is still with us, dynamic, developing, humble, wonderful voice, humorous, can witness to the past when rough n tumble was as valuable as gold, and connects us together in a world lacking kindness – it just makes everything easier,” shared yet another fan.

Robert Plant hinted at the possibility of making more music with Saving Grace

In a recent interview with Louder, Plant seemed to suggest there might be more in store from the band.

“It’s not finished. There’s loads more. If I open the trunk of my car, all these songs fall out. Songs recorded, songs not recorded. It’s a trove,” Plant said.

“When you sing, you sing,” he added. “You don’t say: ‘F—k it, I’ll stop now.’ You carry on singing. If you’re not on the gravy train, you just open the door when you feel like it and out you go,” he added.

Plant and Saving Grace are touring the U.S. through the end of the month.
