Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor Faces Financial Strain as Royal Status Shifts

Disgraced Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is facing mounting financial and personal pressure as the King scales back long-standing support.

His official income has sharply declined in recent years, leaving him with only a modest naval pension following the end of his annual royal allowance.

Past investigations have shown that he earned significant sums from royal duties before stepping back, and public estimates suggest he retains several million pounds in personal wealth.

But even though he has now lost his royal title, he is certainly not at risk of going broke.

Money under pressure

The Express highlighted public estimates from Celebrity Net Worth, which value Andrew’s overall wealth at roughly £3.7 million, despite several years without a formal income.

The Guardian previously found in a 2023 investigation that he had accumulated almost £13 million from royal duties before stepping back in 2019.

ITV further reported that the King ended Andrew’s £1 million annual allowance in 2024, leaving only his £20,000 naval pension as his declared income.

Andrew’s last publicly recorded royal allowance was the £249,000 paid to him in 2010, according to ITV’s reporting.

Loss of titles

The Express reported that Andrew’s public role began collapsing in 2020, after fierce criticism of his association with Jeffrey Epstein prompted him to withdraw from duties.

In January 2022, the late Queen removed his military affiliations and charitable patronages.

The publication also noted that Buckingham Palace later confirmed he would stop using the Duke of York title in public.

Further reporting stated that the King subsequently removed all remaining styles and privileges, leaving him formally recognised from October 2025 as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
