Cosmopolitan reports that a source told ShuterScoop: “Harry knows estrangement. He made peace with his dad; now he wants Meghan to have the same chance. He’s been saying, ‘Don’t wait, do it now.'”
Harry’s encouragement has been described as “soft [and] compassionate”, with another source adding that “he’s showing Meghan what reconciliation looks like. And he hopes she takes it”.
The insider comments come after it emerged that Meghan’s half-brother Thomas Markle Jr was hoping that the couple would be in touch with the family – and, most importantly, her dad.
He told the Daily Mail: “I would implore Meghan and Harry to reach out to Dad.” The concerned son added that, as of Thursday, his dad is “heavily medicated” and “hooked up to all kinds of machines”.
Although they have not spoken for multiple years, Thomas has been very vocal about his wish to reunite with his daughter.
The pair’s relationship became strained as Meghan felt betrayed after he staged paparazzi photos and later lied about his involvement. He also did not attend Meghan and Harry’s wedding due to ill-health and has never met his son-in-law or his grandchildren.
