Meghan Markle has refuted allegations that she contacted her father, Thomas Markle, after his recent hospitalization. The Duchess of Sussex’s father was reportedly admitted to hospital with one leg allegedly requiring amputation.
Mr Markle was said to have endured a three-hour surgical procedure due to a “life-threatening emergency,” according to his son, Thomas Jr. Subsequent reports suggested that Meghan, who has been disconnected from her father since 2018, “directed staff to confirm the reports of her father’s medical condition.”
The Times reported the duchess was believed to have been unaware of her father’s health situation before it became public knowledge.
Nevertheless, Meghan’s representatives dismissed the allegations, releasing an uncommon, five-word response.
They told the Daily Express: “This is a complete fabrication,” reports The Express.
The spokesperson continued: “No aides have been instructed to reach out.”
The most recent update about Mr Markle came from his son, Thomas Jr, who provided details on his father’s medical status.
He told the Daily Mail: “My dad is being very brave. His foot turned blue and then black. It happened very quickly. I took him to a local hospital and they did some scans and an ultrasound and said the leg had to be amputated.”
He continued: “There was no option. I was told the leg had to be removed and it was a case of life or death.”
The former television lighting technician had the surgery in the Philippines, where he relocated earlier this year. Tom Jr stated: “One of his doctors said the next two or three days are critical. His left leg has been removed below the knee. They were worried about infection setting in – sepsis or gangrene. The flesh was black and dying.
“There was no option given. It was either ‘we have to operate now and remove the leg or he may die’. It was a life-threatening situation.”
