Meghan Markle invited two of her closest friends to join her with wreath-making for the holiday special of ‘With Love, Meghan’ which aired earlier this month on Netflix. Lindsay Jil Roth and Kelly McKee Zajfen joined the Duchess of Sussex as she invited them into her rented Montecito mansion.
Lindsay, described how life felt behind-the-scenes of ‘With Love, Meghan’. In a four-worded statement, she explained: “The vibe was amazing.” The TV producer added she thought the whole set felt like a family gathering.
She explained: “Meg was already filming when I arrived, but as soon as I walked in, [makeup artist] Daniel Martin gave me a big hug and welcomed me to set. Then I saw [photographer] Jake Rosenberg, who was there taking photos — we’ve all been friends for years — and he gave me another big hug. And then I saw Kelly. It instantly felt like a family day. So warm, so fun, so easy. We were just ourselves.”
Meghan’s best pal also told People magazine: “We haven’t always lived in the same place at the same time, but we find ourselves connected through the same interests, or we’ll be thinking the same thing at the same time and message each other about it.”
She added: “We laugh a lot. There’s just always been that level of support for each other. When you find someone that you are just 100% yourself with, it’s rare.”
Lindsay also explained while they were wreath-making, Prince Harry and the couple’s son, Prince Archie, stopped by the set.
She explains how Meghan’s children, Archie, six, Lilibet, four do not appear on camera in the special, but they were very much part of the experience behind the scenes.
Linsay recalled: “I don’t get to see them all the time now, so I got to have Archie with me when I was making my wreath and he helped me put a few little things on.”
While Archie and Lilibet stay off camera, Harry does make an on-screen cameo in the episode. Harry appears in the kitchen as Meghan cooks her mum Doria Ragland’s traditional Christmas Eve gumbo.
Gumbo is a flavourful stew from Louisiana, a blend of African, French, Spanish and Native American influences.
In the festive edition of the show, Meghan, 44, shows viewers how to wrap presents, decorate plates and make advent calendars, crackers and wreaths.
