In a new cover story with our 2025 Heavy Band of the Year Deafheaven, frontman George Clarke teases that new music is coming sooner than fans might expect.

“I guess this is the first time I’ll have said this, and maybe it’s good [timing] because the year is concluding, but we will have new music next year,” he confirms. Well, can’t get much more straightforward than that — stay tuned for more seismic blackgaze from Deafheaven in 2026.

The news may come as slightly surprising for longtime fans, as Deafheaven have traditionally taken their time between releases, and their latest, Lonely People with Power, only dropped in March of this year. For reference, it was roughly four years between that project and its predecessor, Infinite Granite. Prior to that, gaps between albums lasted between two and three years.

Of course, it’s still unclear if the “new music” will take the form of another full-length LP or a smaller-scale release. But, hey, no harm in hoping for another album!

In addition to teasing new music, Clarke also shared that Deafheaven are planning on touring extensively throughout 2026.

“All I wanna do is just keep my head down and tour, to have good shows and meet cool people and go to cool places. It’s the same thing as it was from day one,” he tells Consequence. “We will be touring a lot. So, we’re gonna be very, very busy. It will be busier than this year, which is a blessing.”

As of now, the band has only announced a handful of dates throughout Europe, plus a stop at next year’s Sick New World festival in Texas (get tickets here). Presumably, Clarke’s comments hint they’ll be adding concerts in North America at some point in the near future.
