Walt Disney Co. said it would take an equity stake in Open AI valued at $1 billion, while striking a three year licensing deal that will allow the artificial intelligence company to use popular characters like Mickey Mouse and Captain America in its Sora video platform. The deal may be the first to tie a major traditional entertainment company with one of the rising cadre of AI tech firms.
