Jennifer Lawrence wanted to share her experience as a mother with the world, which is why she started talking about her kids in interviews.
The Oscar-winning actress revealed her choice not to discuss her kids during her participation in The Hollywood Reporter’s Actress Roundtable.
Lawrence had promised herself she wouldn’t discuss her kids, but later realized it was hard not to broach the subject while talking.
“I was surprised when I started doing this because I’ve always been really strict about, ‘I don’t want to talk about my kids,'” Lawrence said. “But it’s impossible not to, so I’ve landed on, ‘I will talk about my experience as a mother.’ It made me realize that it was not something I had fully considered.”
Lawrence, who shares her two sons with husband Cooke Maroney, told W. Magazine in November that she was pregnant with her second son while filming Die, My Love.
She jokingly called it “real sexy family planning.”
“I knew I’d be filming the movie and also that I wanted a second child before my first son got too old,” Lawrence explained. She added that being in her second trimester actually worked in her favor: “In the first trimester, you’re really sick, but by the second, you start to feel better.”
Lawrence said being in her second trimester helped her feel better on set and allowed her to connect more deeply with her character.
