Michael Jackson has been photographed alongside Bill Clinton in the partially released Epstein files. In one photo, the former US President, 79, has his arm wrapped around the late singer, with the duo standing beside Diana Ross. Another shows Jackson, who died aged 50 in 2009, posing alongside disgraced sex offender Jeffrey Epstein himself. Despite being pictured with Epstein, it does not mean they participated in his crimes or knew of them.
It’s not known where, when or what context the pictures were taken. The US Department of Justice began releasing the latest batch of Epstein files on Friday evening. Documents related to the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein were published on the department’s website under a section titled “Epstein Library” at around 9pm GMT.
Other photos featured Clinton alongside Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20 year prison sentence for sex trafficking.
The photographs appear to show Clinton and Maxwell swimming together, as well as the American politician relaxing in a hot tub.
In 2019, a spokesperson for Clinton insisted he “knows nothing about the terrible crimes” Epstein pleaded guilty to.
Although hundreds of thousands of documents have been released, the government has not yet made public all of the information it holds on Epstein, who died by suicide in jail in 2019. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche confirmed that additional files will be published in the coming weeks.
The Justice Department said “all reasonable efforts have been made to review and redact personal information” regarding victims and private individuals.
It added: “That said, because of the volume of information involved, this website may nevertheless contain information that inadvertently includes non-public personally identifiable information or other sensitive content, to include matters of a sexual nature.”
Donald Trump appears not to be mentioned in the latest batch of files. Blanche said there has not been any order to remove the US President’s name from the files.
He told ABC: “There’s no effort to hold back because there’s the name Donald J Trump, or anybody else’s name – Bill Clinton’s name, Reid Hoffman’s name.
“There’s no effort to hold back or not hold back because of that … President Trump has certainly said from the beginning that he expects all files that can be released to be released, and that’s exactly what we’re doing.”
