Holidays on the Plaza: Seasonal event, ice-skating, the Tinsel Trail (a fund-raiser for Tuscaloosa One Place) open for 2025-2026 in Government Plaza, downtown Tuscaloosa, through Jan. 1. This week’s skating times: Closed Thursday, Christmas day: open at 10 a.m. Friday and Saturday; 1 p.m. Sunday, 10 a.m. Monday-Thursday, Jan. 1.
The outdoor ice-skating rink is set up adjacent to the downtown Tuscaloosa parking deck, with the 200-plus decorated tree Tinsel Trail, a fund-raiser for Tuscaloosa One Place, covering most of the rest of the 5-acre park. Admission is free, but there are charges for ice-skating, which includes rental skates. Single-day passes are $15 general, $12 for military. Tuesdays are family skate day, when the charge is $12 per skater. Season passes, offering unlimited visits, are $75.
