Earlier this month, it was revealed that the 18-year-old actor was the No 2 most searched actor on Google, and there’s a big reason why.

So, why was Malachi Barton one of the most searched actors of 2025?
Malachi‘s star power this year started with Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires, which was filmed in 2024 and debuted in July 2025. However, the anticipation for the project in the first half of the year really got fans excited.
The teaser trailer debuted in April, and fans really started to take a liking to Malachi, who at that point, was already also confirmed to be going on a nationwide tour with several other Disney stars.
After Zombies 4 premiered, Malachi secured his spot as the new IT boy of Disney Channel, with many likening it to when fans became quite fond of Zac Efron in High School Musical.
Prior to Zombies, Malachi had already been working with Disney for several years, having starred in The Villains of Valley View, Stuck in the Middle, Under Wraps and it’s sequel, and as the voice of Lionel in the Disney Junior animated series Fancy Nancy.
A week after the release of Zombies 4, Malachi headed out on the Descendants/Zombies: Worlds Collide Tour with co-star Freya Skye and stars from Descendants: The Rise of Red.
At the concerts, Malachi performed songs from both franchises, and during his time on stage, would get the loudest screams from the young fans in attendance every time he talked and performed.
While on tour, it was announced that Malachi would be starring in new Disney show, Coven Academy, about a trio of teenage witches-in-training who are bound by destiny to guard their city against dangerous, ancient forces.
Right after wrapping up the tour in September, he went right into his next project – filming Camp Rock 3, and after wrapping that, he had to start getting to work on Coven Academy. He also reunited with his Zombies co-stars to film another spinoff project!
