The former duke’s choice to live here may surprise some, especially as Andrew has plenty of friends in the Middle East who would most definitely help him set up a new life there.
However, one royal expert said the one thing stopping him is his family, including his daughters Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, as well as their children.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told the Mirror: “Andrew certainly does seem to have friends in high places in the Middle East and his life there wouldn’t be short on luxury. But it could also be very lonely.
“Andrew does still have his family, including his grandchildren, so I think it’s unlikely that he would want to move abroad permanently.”
Bond also said that while Marsh Farm is smaller than Royal Lodge, it is not all doom and gloom.
This is because Andrew, 65, will be able to live on the lovely Sandringham estate and will no doubt still retain some members of staff, allowing him to still have some of the luxuries that royal life brings.
While it is not clear when Andrew will move abodes, it has been reported that this could take place before Easter.
This is despite the fact previous reports suggested that the former Duke of York has the right to stay at Royal Lodge until October 2026.
