Is Ashley Tisdale’s Toxic Mom Group Drama Becoming a Movie?

Ashley Tisdale‘s “toxic mom group” drama could become a movie as “big stars” express their “interest” in the story.

The former Disney Channel star sparked a conversation when she opened up in an essay for The Cut titled “Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group,” and called out a friend group that allegedly included major stars like Hilary Duff, Mandy Moore, and Meghan Trainor.

Now, Page Six reports that Hollywood is looking into the drama. “There’s a s - - tload of interest,” said a source who claims that film studios and “big stars with production companies” have been approaching Tisdale about bringing the viral essay to the screen. 

“It’s relatable to everyone,” one insider said of the essay, in which the 40-year-old mom of two wrote about being left out by friends repeatedly until she eventually confronted them.

Meanwhile, a source told Star Magazine that Tisdale was “leaning towards” a book deal to “capitalize” on the success of the essay, alleging that she has been “bombarded with offers.”

The source added that the actress, who shares 4-year-old daughter Jupiter and 1-year-old daughter Emerson with husband Christopher French, “truly never expected this to turn into such a mess” and “swears up and down that it was not about revenge and is very quick to point out that she never named names.”

In The Cut, Tisdale wrote about noticing that the group, with whom she once bonded over new motherhood, had a “pattern of leaving someone out.” Repeatedly getting left out of group hangs left her feeling like she was “not cool enough,” and she described “feeling totally lost as to what I was doing ‘wrong’ to be left out.”

As speculation mounted about who was involved in the group, Duff’s husband, Matthew Koma, appeared to defend his wife when he posted his version of the article, in which he seemed to call Tisdale “the most self-obsessed tone-deaf person on Earth.”
