Jimmy Fallon makes shocking confession about Finn Wolfhard’s ‘SNL’ debut
Finn Wolfhard made his iconic Saturday Night Live debut on January 12, 2026.
But it seems like, behind the scenes, Jimmy Fallon quietly helped make the Studio 8H moment happen for the Stranger Things star.
During his candid chat with Entertainment Weekly, the host of The Tonight Show admitted that he presented the idea of the 23-year-old Canadian actor as a host to Lorne Michaels, calling his years on the sketch comedy show as a “good way in.”
Jimmy, who has previously starred on SNL from 1998 to 2004, shared, “Finn was my last recommendation.”
“They have great taste in casting over there, and Lorne does too.”
The It star’s hosting debut kicked off the second half of the star-studded Season 51, which opened in October with Bad Bunny hosting after he was announced as the 2026 Super Bowl halftime headliner.
The season continued with Amy Poehler’s return for SNL’s 50th anniversary, Sabrina Carpenter taking double duty and Ariana Grande hosting the 2025 Christmas episode alongside Cher, who returned as musical guest for the first time since 1987.
Finn was joined by musical guest A$AP Rocky, who was also making his own debut.
